Indefinite Whole is an exhibition that explores ideas of collective, physical, virtual, fragmented and hidden places within the present space/time continuum. This investigation through the lens of eight artists asks how its particulars define their lives and practices. Whatever the muse—from the natural world, to politics, to found objects and formal abstractions hidden or revealed—each artist takes on the task to interpret our contemporary world and work toward the continuous unraveling of a shared journey.
The artists included in this exhibit are currently working toward their Master of Fine Arts degree from Brooklyn College’s School of Visual, Media and Performing Arts. The MFA in Visual Arts draws artists from New York and beyond to work in a closely connected studio-intensive community. Indefinite Whole is an introduction of the work made by these dedicated artists and serves as a glimpse into some of the voices that will shape the upcoming MFA Thesis Exhibition scheduled for the spring of 2013.
