BERTRAND DELACROIX GALLERY is pleased to announce “NOT GUILTY”, a solo-exhibition of recent works by FRANCOIS BARD.

As bold as ever, Bard returns to New York City for his second show on U.S. soil.  Faithful to his style, Bard presents a collection of large canvasses, each one delivering a powerful punch.Whether a prisoner awaiting trial, a gangster on the run, a public speaker, a corrupt politician, a dog with master or a dismayed heir, Bard’s subjects all represent compelling icons. They are bohemian, marginal, or controversial figures. They are objects or moments captured. The viewer is invited to create their own story as Bard conveys the essence of his subject’s humanity or existence. Each tells a story or keeps a secret – they are the judged, but perhaps they are the true victims, as they plead, soberly, not guilty.

Bard, born in France in 1959, attended the ÉcoleSupérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and was selected for residency at the Casa Velázquez 1988-1990.  He was a professor at the Ateliers des Beaux-Arts in Paris for 10 years.  Bard’s work has been featured in major international art fairs, including Art Miami, the London Art Fair, Art Paris, FORM London, Art London and Art Karlsruhe Germany, and hangs in prestigious public and private collections around the world, including those of Ralph Lauren, Kit Kemp, Jackye and Curtis Finch, Jr. and Arkansas Arts Center–Museum of Art.

Bard divides his time between his Paris studio and his home in Burgundy.
