From April 25 through May 19, 2012, the Phoenix Gallery, 210 Eleventh Avenue at 25th Street, presents the exhibition SYDNEY DRUM DIGITAL PAINTING. This exhibition features seven large paintings, using oil and digital media on linen. These works explore the intersections of painting, digital media, and photography. Some elements are hand-painted (a labor-intensive, low-tech method); others use digital technology to explore how it has changed the way we view the world around us (an emphatically high-tech process). The well-known critic, Gerrit Henry, in an Art in America review of her work, wrote that Drum mixes up all kinds of esthetic impulses, and handles color with unswerving confidence. Michael Amy, another New York critic, noted that Drum confronts tradition and innovation at all once.

Drum has extensively exhibited in the U.S., Canada, and Europe, as well as in Asia. Her work is represented in the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C.
