Curated by Christian Fuller and Risa Shoup
Each year BRIC Rotunda Gallery presents an exhibition exclusively drawn from its Artist Registry, an online resource containing over 15,000 image files and 1,000 active users. The 2012 exhibitionThe Bricoleurs will present the work of artists who explore the medium of collage and assemblage, and examine expanding the canon of these processes. These artists embrace the practice of bricolage - constructing new forms and imagery, and creating cogency among sometimes disparate elements of a work. Artists include: Andrea Burgay, Max Greis, MaryKate Maher, Joseph Gillette, Cooper Holoweski, Alana Fitzgerald, Christian Maychack, Danielle Durchslag, Man Bartlett, and Troy Michie.
Founded in 1983, the BRIC Contemporary Artist Registry is Brooklyn’s oldest visual artist registry, and one of its largest; it includes the portfolios of visual artists who were born in, live in, work in, or have a studio in the borough of Brooklyn, curators, and art professionals. The Registry is open to all Brooklyn-affiliated artists and is free to join and use.
The exhibition is curated by Christian Fuller, BRIC’s Gallery Manager, and Risa Shoup, Residency Manager for the BRIC House Fireworks Residency.
