New York, NY, 2012 -- Atlantic Gallery presents Max Tzinman's show "Adrift".
- 548 W 28th Street, Suite 540, New York, NY 10001 - phone: 212 219 3183.
- from October 30th to November 24th, Tuesday - Saturday 12 - 6.
- receptions: Thursday Nov. 1st, 4-8 PM & Saturday Nov. 24th, 1-5 PM.
This show of recent work invites the viewer to contemplate alienation, anonymity, and the struggle for authenticity and visibility in a group-think world - themes that are explored in much of Tzinman's work.
Tzinman comments that the visible reality rarely reflects the truth. Under the surface a deeper truth is hidden.
He explains: I am not a photographer or a conventional painter but an image storyteller. I am not trying to freeze the moment with a beautiful image, but to transform it to reveal the complex and deep emotions that lie buried beneath the surface.
Max Tzinman was born in Romania and lived in Israel and Canada, immersing himself in a multitude of cultures that influenced his artistic/philosophical concepts. Formerly an architect, since his move to New York City he returned to his first love, art. He has recently participated in art and photography shows at LACDA (Los Angeles Center For Digital Art), The Center for Fine Art Photography (Ft. Collins, CO), BAG (Brooklyn Art Gallery), Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital Art Gallery, Moss Rehab/Einstein, Atlantic Gallery, MOCA: Museum of Computer Art, and William Penn Foundation. He also received awards from Exhibitions Without Walls for Photographers and Digital Artists, Bryn Mawr Rehab, Photographer's Forum Magazine, and was published in Camera Arts Magazine, Art and Beyond Magazine, Photographer's Forum Magazine's Album, and Photo Life Magazine (Canada).
Max Tzinman has donated the featured work 'Adrift (Sunday Afternoon)' for a silent auction at the opening reception, proceeds to benefit Jakmel Ekspresyon Art Center, an organization that supports artists in Haiti (http://jakmelekspresyon.wordpress.com/)
