“With his always mannerful, disarming and gentle nature Mark was a welcome and reassuring figure -- someone who made you feel as if some things would never change. This did not serve his quietly ambitious nature, and obfuscated the true reason why he was always to be found at the best art shows in NYC...We now have his physical absence, and as this becomes reality we are obligated to search him out in a body of work that is destined to make us realize that we were in the presence of a serious talent.”
“Mark’s careful, studied and thoughtful approach to the plastic arts belies the spontaneous and fluid result that is his artwork. He knew much more than he let on about where the simple gesture of applying paint to canvas originates... Finally, after we will all be gone and strangers encounter a work by Mark Wiener, they will understand that behind every two dimensional object lies a soul that had many layers, and much love to give to this cold, overly analyzed and monetized commercial universe.”
